However I hope you are right and that he had gone to the Station afterwards with whatever intent - if so at least there hadn't been a fatal error in judgement in leaving him free to commit this heinous crime. As Pat and many of her family are friends of my family I can tell you that he killed his Gran, Pat, early in the morning and left to attack the person in the station. The family have struggled with Rakeim's mental illness for a while now. Pat was looking after him as they were having difficulty in getting him sectioned. Up to Sat night there was no real indication that His nature was to turn, but on Sat night my son was trying to placate him as he was really bad, claiming all sorts of wierd thoughts. As my son tried, in vain to get a hold of Rakeim's uncle he rang Pat and told her. Little did he know what was to happen. My son is beside himself in the belief that he is responsible for Pats death. Obviously Pats son is with my son and they are all getting through this together, as are the rest of the family.Real tragic events that could have been avoided if the social and mental network was in place to help such families. It's not the first and it probably wont be the last. Shame, but a modern world! RIP Pat.

Thank you Simonm for the proper facts from someone who really does know what's what. What a dreadful tragedy this has been and I am so sorry for all those trying to get through the ordeal. Easy for onlookers to say I know, but your son must not blame himself in any way as he was only genuinely doing what he thought was right at the time in impossible circumstances. I've seen Mrs. Regan on TV and heard her on Radio Leeds and I admired her courage and her stance greatly.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.

A small point.....his name is spelt Rakiem.I hope he receives the treatment he so obviously needed and the huge amount of support and help he will need to live with what he has done. I really feel for the family and am pleased to hear they are standing by Rakiem. My thoughts are with them.
