Leeds schoolgirl gets top job

Post by blackprince »

I know she was not born in Leeds but I think it is worth noting that today a former Leeds schoolgirl became PM.
Who'd a thunk it!
Putting all politics aside, I wish Liz the best of luck . She and the country certainly need it.
The nearest we have come before to having a PM with West Yorks connections was Herbert Henry Asquith born in Morley, and Harold Wilson from Huddersfield.
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!

I had to check Tilly and you are not mistaken.
Another famous former Fulneck pupil was Diana Rigg.
