Hollywood Cowboy In Leeds.

Post by volvojack »

Over a pint my pal was going back over the old days as its the only thing we can do at our age. He said that he remembers a Hollywood Cowboy on a horse coming to Leeds about 1950, possibly to promote some film but he cant remember any more details and I can't remember this at all. Anyone out there ?

Seem to remember Roy Rogers and Trigger visiting Leeds at around that time, but of course I can't be sure that was the occasion you recall.

My Pal may be confused and this story was related to him as he would have been too young. Can imagine the reception Gene Autry and his 'oss got back in the days prior to TV. e.c.t.

Have heard many a working lad after a hard days slog downing his first pint, wiping his mouth and saying "That were Champion" so maybe that visit left a lasting impression.
Regards Jack Daly.

dogduke, that would make a good cowboy name.
