Having a morning enjoying looking through old posts before I joined and came across this one. Cashdisia.
In the early 1950s I worked in King Edward St. and this shop was from Queen Victoria St. to the County Arcade on Vicar lane.
They sold mens clothing on the ground floor and in the basement they sold industrial workwear , as in those days most people were employed the shop was always busy.
the quality / styles of clothing were quite ordinary and if someone was referred to as a "Cashdisia Swell" it was not a compliment.
The nearest Greenwoods mens outfitters was just outside the Mecca entrance.

Apologies for possibly repeating what has already been posted..

The posts concerning Rawcliffes the Outfitters on Duncan St reminded me that when my brother got a scholarship to St. Michaels college my Mother had to buy his badge, blaze and cap from there. they had the concession to supply all the badges for the different colleges in Leeds and would not let you purchase a badge without a blazer. they were quite expensive but there was no option. they would not be allowed to get away with this nowadays. Rawcliffes.
