Lloyds Bank on The Headrow/Vicar Lane.

Post by Leodian »

I noticed today (Oct 21 2015) that the Lloyds Bank at the junction of The Headrow and Vicar Lane has closed and its interior was being gutted. I wonder what will happen to this fine building? A new branch of Lloyds Bank has opened on Briggate. Passing by its looks cavernous inside! With increasing use of such as online banking I'm surprised it is so large. A new branch of Yorkshire Bank looks close to opening on Briggate almost opposite the Lloyds Bank.

Makes a change though from being a betting, charity or fast food outlet. It's sad though to see so many empty premises on such as Briggate (the old Burton's and that opposite that was Dwell for example) and also all around, such as on Commercial Street. The H Samuels shop at the corner of Commercial Street and Briggate had shutters up and signs stating it is temporarily closed (there was stock inside).

Edit Oct 22 2015. The large size of the new Lloyds Bank on Briggate makes more sense now as I noted today that the branch at the junction of Park Row and Bond Street is closed. I forgot to check if the Lloyds Bank symbol wire horse is still there.

Edit Nov 21 2015. The wire horse was still there on Nov 19 but there is a planning application to move it to the main Lloyds office on Lovell Park Road (see this thread http://secretleeds.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3671).
