On passing under the railway to go onto Assembly Street on July 21 2015 some bricks dated 2007 and 2008 caught my eye (as also did one dated MMIV when I went on the nearby Crown Street car park). The first photo shows a close-up view of the 2007 brick in a bricked up arch, the second photo shows that brick in a full view of that bricked up arch and the third shows the walkway under railway arch at the bottom of Assembly Street (the 2007 brick is on the left side of that walkway). I shall post about the 2008 and MMIV bricks in my next post due to the limit of 3 photos a post.
I assume the dates are when the brickwork was done but it may be an uncommon thing to do. I wonder if anyone knows what was/is behind that bricked-up part and if there is any history behind the brickwork?

Re: Dated bricks by the railway at Assembly Street and nearb
The first photo here is a close-up of the 2008 dated brick that is in a bricked-up area opposite that having the 2007 brick. The second is a full view of the brickwork having the 2008 brick (it is just above the top dark line). That area has vents in the brickwork so I wonder if it is ventilation for the Leeds Safari nightclub and restaurant that will be behind it. The third photo is the MMIV dated brick (2004 if my Roman numeral understanding is correct!) that is in some brickwork under the railway at the bottom of the nearby Crown Street car park. There was work going on at the railway arches there and I could not get close enough to take a reasonable photo as the optical zoom on my camera is not as good as that on the camera I had which I lost a couple of months back. Thanks therefore to the workman who seemed interested and took this photo for me.
