This is something that's bugged me for ages Polo, but to be fair I can't think of any UK city that does fountains properly. You wander round the streets of Continental cities and there are all sorts of nice water features. I suspect the great Northern European tradition of binge drinking possibly has something to do with the short lifespan of British fountains...

The fountains in City Park in Bradford have survived a summer and a winter, although I'm not sure whether it's meant to be a lake at the moment...

I dunno theres a few low key water features that seem to have stood the test of time canal gardens and pudsey park granted inside and vic qtr has been there ten years or so i think. But as a rule a agree were pretty useless it just annoys me i mean howm much did they cost to fit just to replace them with planters another terrible waste of money and they wont even look into getting them fixed. To be fair theres little the general public could do to vandalise the ones in city sq as theyre underground no one to blame there except the developers.
