How old do you think he looks in the photos?There is another photo of him here:http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... =FULLThere is a record for a J Leyton Royal Fusiliers ( London Regiment) 1914 in British Army Records,( I am not a subscriber to the site so can't get more details) J Leyton or JH Leyton is not listed in the Commonwealth War Graves WW1 casualties records. http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead.aspxMaybe he died in the flu pandemic of 1918/19?
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!
