Might be useful input sightings from those around when others aren't? Late shifts or those finishing / commuting in early hours.Below Viaduct Rd by Armley Mills saw a Dipper, so the River must be in good health. Viewed from here, just looking down from footpath/bridge http://g.co/maps/7nnqkLucky sighting really, full location pic follows (can't insert).

Dipper was lower right of shot and kept 'running' under water, diving in and out.

I was sat on the steps next to Crown Point Bridge a few weeks ago at 11:15am and a mink climbed up and started walking up and down the riverside path. The river is in good health as you said I saw a group of Pochard there yesterday and there are big Chub pike and brown trout in it.

I was parked on Portland Crescent yesterday, I heard a screeching obviously a hawk somewhere nearby but no sight of anything. When I returned home did a bit of googling and there have been sightings of peregrines on and near the Civic Hall. Did more searching and found the Chichester peregrine webcam very interesting. Peregrines nesting on the cathedral with four chicks and yes the noise the female was making when the male returned with food was identical to the screeching I heard, so there could well be nesting pergrenes on or about the Civic Hall

Thats a great spot Jogon, with kingfishers and dippers present on the Aire and Brown Trout swimming happily it proves the water quality has improved vastly over the last few years. Even though when at summer levels 70% of the flow is recycled water from sewage works outlets.

There was an article on Calendar tonight showing details of a fish bye pass to be built on the river at Rodley maybe their thinking of introducing salmon. It would be nice to see salmon leaping the weir at Crown Point.
