I've seen an image of Park Row similar to Atkinson Grimshaw's painting http://www.johnatkinsongrimshaw.org/Par ... ge.htmlThe narrative (for same view) indicates "Philosophical Hall on left, Beckett's Bank right and St Anne's Roman Catholic Cathedral in distance".But the image of St Anne's is nothing like the current one. Was it moved? Current one has small spire and different location?

HSBC is where the Leeds Museum used to be. NatWest, not so sure what that was.

The present NatWest building was preceded by a magnificent classic red brick structure on the same site, and which was also the National Westminster Bank. I've no recollection now of the date or method of building this replacement.

This is baffling, and at the same time fascinating. Why you have to wonder is the beautiful Wetherspoons on the west side of Park Row called "The Beckets Bank" ?? Its obviously been a magnificent bank of some kind, in fact I believe it was Barclays until quite recently.

Copied from Wetherspoons website This Wetherspoon pub is located in the city's 19th-century banking quarter, and is named after one of the area's best-known former banks.
