It has been announced that Jimmy Adamson has died today (Nov 8 2011) aged 82. He took over from Jock Stein as manager of Leeds United in November 1978 but was unsuccessful and was not popular with many supporters. He resigned in October 1980. I always thought it was not Jimmy's fault that the club was in trouble as others before and after him (including several ex Leeds United players) were not able to turn the club around after the Don Revie years.

So sad to hear of his death. He was a great footballer who, unfortunately, played in an era of great footballers (he never was capped by England). Nevertheless, 29 years with the same club is a fantastic achievement. I agree with Leodian that he came to Leeds at a very difficult time and, frankly, the task was just too big. My in-laws live near and support Burnley: it's a small place and they cherish their heroes there. He'll not be forgotten over the border.R.I.P.
