80'-90's kirkstall club

HI Can anyone remember the name of club that was in the old hotel on the same road as BHS is now in Kirkstall back in the 1980's. It is now where carphone wharehouse & halfords is nowSteve

Originally the Star and Garter pub, was it the Bar celona or was that earlier?

Thanks for that. It would have been bugging me for ages. I remember as the Bar Celona. Was a bit of a dive but had some good nights in there

The Bar Celona was also known, though not officially I think, as the 'Bar C.'

Had some great times in the Barcelona. Saw loads of bands/artists there. Edwin Starr, Chairmen Of The Board etc etc etc Also remember Pat Phoenix doing a PA there, getting a signed pic and a kiss on the cheek too.

It was also known as Raphaels for a time ..i think that was before it was known as the Bar C

billy the buffalo wrote: It was also known as Raphaels for a time ..i think that was before it was known as the Bar C It was indeed Raphaels before being known as the Barcelona, had many a good night in there - true it was a bit of a dump towards the end but there were worse places ( anyone ever try Spooks lol ).When it closed at Kirkstall the Bar C re-opened in a brand new building at Birstall retail park, even getting Yorkshire Rider to provide free buses on Friday and Saturday nights from the centre of Leeds, alas this was short lived ( not surprising really ) and the building is now D.W. Sports, sports shop and gym.postscript - as an after thought I'm not sure the buses were free and there might have been a flat fare return charge, which could have been a reason for the quick demise of the new Bar C

It picked you up (quite cheekily) from over the road from the Majestyk club on Wellington Street from memory.

It might have been moved to the start of Wellington St but the couple of times we went the bus left from the layby in front of the Queens hotel, maybe they complained about crowds of rowdy drinkers congregating in front of the hotel waiting for the bus.
