I am a little puzzled why a reporter and by-lined feature writer, who presumably is paid a substantial (by my standards) salary to research his pieces hasn't found what he needs by reading through the threadslisted here under "Underground streets, tunnels, and culverts". I would imagine anything known to Secret Leeds contributors has already been posted one way or another, and is readily available with a little work. If amplification or sources are required, some of our contributors' email details can be found in their profiles, and posting a polite personal enquiry will often result in contact being made.Or does Mr Hudson want someone to do his research without pay?Naturally, acknowledgement at least of "Secret Leeds" as a source of information would be expected if any material from here is published.

I've already spoken to Mr Hudson prior to this post being made on Secret Leeds and given him my thoughts on the matter. I've already declined due to my reasons below, should Mr Hudson wish to look at how this feature is to be presented, then I shall reconsider. It isn't really a question of money, but as Jim says give credit where credits due. I wouldn't be massively impressed if this underground Leeds feature was presented as a 'Yorkshire Evening Post spectacular' Look what we know all about Leeds folks. When obviously the work is already documented on the internet like my photo webpage, and this very website Secret Leeds from myself and various other contributors. We've already seen various topics covered on Secret Leeds featured in the Yorkshire Evening post, with little, or no credit given to the original source the material came from. It is a little bit irritating to see someone do all the hard work, and someone else taking credit for it with no effort on their part.I liken it a bit to the songwriter who got stuffed by the record company, his song was given to some band who scored a massive hit with it, the band hit the big time, and the record company coined it in, and the original talent the guy who actually wrote the song, not only didn't get payed very well, he never even got mentioned as the songwriter! Credit where credits due as Jim rightly says I.M.OJust my thoughts on the matter said lol

Hi Jim.I actually spoke to Mr Hudson twice prior to him making this post on here, I asked him what benefit it would be to me to let them use my work. It wasn't as if I would get any payment for it, all I would hope for is a passing quote in the story, when after all it was all my own work copied by them. If they were featuring my work, then I would like the article to reflect that, and it isn't the case that I would just get a casual mention somewhere in the story. I didn't stand to gain anything, so the mention of payment was just to put my point into some kind of context. A brief mention in the feature isn't really an incentive for me to give up my previous hard work, my free time and my knowledge away for no obvious gain, whether that gain be monetary, or some other kind of reward that would benefit me for my efforts. The Journalists get payed, the Y.E.P sell papers, but what does the main contributor who created it all get out of it?

Hi Phill, I regret that I seem to be causing confusion here (and am probably compounding it with this post!). I mentioned "pay" in my first post on this thread, and thought I had caused a misunderstanding by a comment you made. Then in trying to explain myself I appeared to make it worse. I believe we are of the identical opinion on this topic and can regard the matter closed. Best wishes Jim.

I just tried to highlight my own views a little better too I was really just asking the question why?At the moment you'd feel like the guy going to work all week, him getting his pay and just giving it to a bloke on the street, here you go mate, have the rewards for all my efforts. Money isn't the issue, but seeing someone else take credit for what you have done is a different matter entirely
