I've been on Short Street countless times and always amused by the name, as it really is a short street. Having intended to do so for ages I finally took a photo of Short Street today (September 6 2011). The view is from Butts Court looking towards Albion Street. Oddly, Short Street is not named in all of several online maps I've seen. In some it is named as part of Butts Court. Short Street, the street that lives up to its name.

I've just found there is a Long Lane in Barwick in Elmet. I know the road but not its name until now. It is a few years since I last drove on it but I recall it is a long road connecting Barwick and Garforth.

But it would be uphill going back which would be a bit of a bugbear (or words to that effect!).

The photo shows a different view of Short Street (the street name sign is also more readily seen). Like the photo in my first post it was taken on September 6 2011.
