I know some of you are keen on historic maps and you never know when they are going to come in handy for our historical research. Here is another mapping resource I have just come across. http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/maps/They have out of copyright OS Maps in zoomable/scrollable format, either use the Ordnance Survey at the top or go down to Historic NLS Maps then Ordnance Survey from the sub-menu. The NLS dataset seems slightly sharper. However both formats much better than the interface at other old map sites.
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!
