Seems the site is some 7yrs behind the times.Must be real bad if people opt to pay over 2 quid on a phone call against 39p on the website fee.http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 2.jpCheers Yorkie

The link did not work for me, even if I copied and pasted it. I however found that if I pasted it but removed the final full stop then it worked and brought up the interesting report. I thought this may help if anyone else cannot get the link to work.

No flooding in Brisbane, but its not that far away. 3 hour drive and your in the thick of it. When it rains it sure does rain here. The flooding you see on the tv is whats called a 1 in 100 yr event. In Brisbane we have had an insane 500mm of rain in Dec (20" in the old money) Thats 4 times the Dec average. Guess what it was raining today too.

The Leeds website may be not up to scratch but £1.8 million!!! The piece in the YEP also mentions updating the council intranet but again I say £1.8 million!!! (Kindly mentally hear me say this in an incredulous tone!) That is a lot of money anytime let alone in the straightened circumstances at present. There is also talk of savings to be made by updating but I would humbly suggest ,as a non Leeds ratepayer, that the Council should battle on with what they have got and save that money. I am sure it could be put to better use in keeping an old folks home open or such.

It is called spend to save grumpybloke, though yes I wouldn't mind a share of that!It is well established that if present and effective, web based systems will be and are used, doubtlesss with multiple pbjections but in time, paople adapt and the minimal grumbles disipate.Over time, the data is kept refreshed, it is instant and consistant in its content and this means less provision for person to person and face to face contact. These are expensive to provide and thus a significant reduction has the potential for massive savings - the work force, the resources they utilise and its accommodation are are one of any authorities largest expenses. In these terms, £1.8M is not a lot for the infrastructure and costs of developing such a system - not sweet music perhaps, but it is the way it works.
