That is intriquing. I wonder if Leeds could be a surname? I hope you find out what the Leeds Memory Method is Leeds Hippo.

It appears to be a form of therapy and to have been invented at Leeds University and from what I have gathered is to do with the sexual abuse of children. A very unsavoury subject.

from a site on Welsh Biography:ROWLANDS , JANE HELEN (‘ Helen o Fôn ’; 1891 - 1955 ), linguist, teacher and missionary (with the CM) ; b. 3 April 1891 in Menai Bridge , Anglesey , the youngest child of Captain Jabez Rowlands , and his wife Martha . The father travelled the world on sailing ships . He was a man of wide interests and had an astute mind. The mother was a devotional and puritanical lady who ran a sewing business in the home, 1 Fair View Terrace . William , the eldest child, went into the ministry and became minister of some of the English churches of the Australian Presbyterian Church . He invented the Leeds Memory Method . It looks like this method may be named from an Australian Leeds not the Yorkshire one?

And there are nearby presbyteries to Euroa, where he may have lived, on Leeds Street in Footscray, and another on Leeds Street in Doncaster East, both in Victoria.

I wish I could find out what it involved - maybe the guy was an operator and the method involved tying a piece of string round your finger!
