Sad to hear today about the death of Tony Curtis an often underestimated actor but more often remembered, by men of a certain age, for the famous 1950's "D.A." haircut.

I'm always reminded of the guy who told the barber he wanted to look like "Tony Curtis" only to told that he was a barber not a b*#&%$ plastic surgeon.

Your merry quip brought to mind the one about the bloke who went to the barbers and asked for a Tony Curtis. The barber proceeded to chop all of his hair off."What the hell have you done?", spluttered the irate customer. "I asked for a Tony Curtis"."That's what you've got - I always thought he was great in 'The King and I' ".Sorry - you've probably heard it a thousand times.

Reminds me of the bloke just starting his National Service. The Army barber says, "Would you like to keep the DA?""Yes please," replies the new squaddie."OK. Hold out your hand," says the barber...

Are you sure that Tony Curtis had a "duck's anatomy" hairstyle? I thought he was known tonsorialy only for his personalised quiff.......... ( open -as usual - to correction )

( open -as usual - to correction ) Pretty sure Jim. As a schoolboy a Tony Curtis haircut was always associated with a D.A. As a matter of interest did you have someone else in mind? I would be interested to know who.

Didn't have anyone else in mind, Johnny39. Just my ( very probably faulty ) memory not associating the longish sideways-brushed side and back hair and noticeable "crevice" with the aforesaid Mr Curtis.
