Due to the present economic climate I really loathed to put this here, but unless you don’t ask you don't get. My wife, Michelle is doing the race for life in aid of Breast cancer treatment. As some of you know, my sister in law, Sharon had to have a mastectomy and extensive breast cancer treatment and had a massive boost from lots of people on MOT during her time. What you may not know is that my other sister in law, Mandy has also had to undergo breast cancer treatment. She hasn’t had a mastectomy, but has had extensive chemo and radiation therapies, which has had a massive impact on her daily life.I know times are hard and I totally understand if you can’t donate, but I would be very very grateful if you could see your way to donating, even a very small amount to the cause. Please please please give whatever you can, no matter how small to the fund, by sponsoring my wife running on Sat 4th July at Temple Newsam. Well, when I say run, what I mean is try to drag herself round in aid of the Race for life event. LolMany many thanks in advance for your kind donations. You can donate at the following site:http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/michellemcgill1

If the Race for Life server manages to take my gelt before Sunday - you've got yer targetMrs Chameleon was in this position too, a routine visit to the Quack with an ache that came and went, Hospital just to be sure, Consultant happy it was nothing too, then three hours later the world changedIt realy was something after all and thanks to a very experienced Radiologist, lots of tiny tumors were noticed as well as the real culprits.Everything happened so fast culminating in a Mastectomy and reconstruction. Luck was there though as well as the clinical expertise, the type and sites of the tumors were favourable. No chemo, no radiotherapy and 12 years later - yup sheremains clear ans is still blooming well here!! And of course, I'm thankfull for that. It's not just the research though, it's a difficult topic for some people to talk about still whaich can make support and understanding awkward. We were lucky there but still, the work of the MacMillan Nurses was something we would not have wanted to be without.Only three things to say -If you are worried - don't ignore thingsSupport the Charitiesand, Good Luck to all taking part

Many thanks Chameleon, glad all things are well for Mrs Chameleon. My sis in law Sharon had a mastectomy and all the related Radiation / chemo etc. Few years on and all seems in order. My other sis in law Mandy hasn't had to have a mastectomy but has had chemo and radiation and all looks fine for her now. Trouble is, my wife is undergoing tests and geneology to see if she runs the risk of contracting the disease. Still undergoing tests, so you can imagine how much tension she's under. Still, fingers crossed all is well. Thanks for any donations that people have made, it really is much appreciated. I also understand that not can donate, but thanks for your kind thoughts.

Job done. Wishing you all the best Mrs simonm. Can I just echo what's been previously said, ie. if anyone has suspicions that all isn't well in any part of the body, do not hesitate - go see the doc immediately. Far better to feel as though you're wasting your/their time than wish you'd gone sooner. I speak from personal experience.

Hey people, this is one very large event in the Leeds Calendar each year now - the Race for Life held tomorrow at Temple Newsam and it is something not to be missed.Where else guys, can you go and see so many wonderful women, all in one place, all at the same time! And.... they have only two things on there mind as far as we guys go - honing their running skills to make a quick get-away from us and getting hold of your cash! Nothing new there then I suppose except that every one of them want your money for somenone else, everyone of them has been touched by that thing we hate to talk about - Cancer - whether it is they themselves, a friend or family member, and they care passionately about trying to help others by raising money for research into ways we can beat this.Even if you can't sponsor someone directly, brave the weather (they are, wet tee-shirts and all!) and at least turn up to give a cheer as your offer of support, maybe even chuck a quid into a passing collection bucket - but above all else, show people you care too.

And if you want to help in a more practical way.......how about parting with some of your body fluids!!!!If you're lucky enough to be fit and well you can be a blood donor, and if this is successful you can proceed further and be a platelet donor. All you have to do..... call in to your local centre for all the details.Go on, you know it makes sense.
