Heres a link to a rugby game between Hunslet and Leeds in 1901http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wv8Ykiuotfg&feature=channelNotice the number of scrums as this was the way of "playing the ball" after a tackle.Indeed the mighty Hunslet were quite clearly the better team,and certainly were for many years after,despite an obvious lack of behind the scenes palm greasing and rule bending to ensure that they were the best at the time.

Mitchell & Kenyon. Brilliant. I saw most of the Rugby films at the Media Museum at Bradford a couple of years ago.
