Hey arry, I'll check tomorrow & see if there is anything in the City Centre events diary. Will let you know.

There is always a Remembrance Day parade 'Arry - I march in it every year with Dad's WW1 medals andmore recently my own National service one. I'm glad you enjoyed last year's but, with every respect, I was bitterly disappointed by it - I thought the music was poor, and the way it just petered out in a bit of a shambles just off Park Lane was poor.Let's hope this year it returns to the normal splendid "stand down" right outside the Civic Hall steps after the Mayor has taken the salute on the march past.By the way, I have to tell you that if you join the parade again at the Woodhouse Lane assembly point carrying two Morrison's bags full of groceries and washing powder you will be in the Guard Room at the double !! - MOST undignified !! LOL
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I lived at 20 East Parade (corner of the Headrow, opposite arry's watering hole which was Pearl Assurance) for the first eight years of my life, until 1969, as my parents were caretakers at Bramham & Gale estate agents. I attended the Remembrance ceremony in the Garden of Rest on the Headrow every year while we lived in town and as my dad was the Secretary of the Polish Ex-Servicemen's Association and of the Royal British Legion (Chapeltown branch) in Leeds in the 1960s and early 1970s, he used to place wreathes on behalf of them each year. I was so proud of him. Sadly, he died in 1983 but I still have his British Legion badges. Occasionally I still go to the Remembrance ceremony in town but if not, I observe the Silence wherever I am, and go and see the wreathes in the Garden of Rest later.

Is the main event always on the Sunday as opposed to Armistice Day? Would like to go along and pay my respects.

Just spoke to Audrey at Lord Mayor's Office. There will be a gathering on Millennium Square on Sunday 9th from about 10am. This will be followed by a procession from the Square to Victoria Gardens where there will be a ceremony at the war memorial at 11am.

I was wonderingif there was going to be a parade and march pastthru town as last year? That Procession only includes The Lord Mayorand Civic dignitaries from the Civic Hall to Cenotaph. Not the Servicemen and Veterans marchingwith a band from Cookridge Street etc.PS Shan't bull my boots if there's no Parade!!!
