Tyke bhoy has pointed us towards an article you(or one of you at least) wrote for an online bloghttp://web.fumsi.com/go/article/share/3127I would direct you to the piece in the article about the skulls - have you read the threads or looked at what we were trying to do??I am fuming that you have allowed such nonsense to published in the public domain. To attempt to deconstruct the article piece by piece is going to be time consuming but bear with me:1. There is no 'old folk song' . a local musician wrote a song about the skulls about 10 years ago.2. We did not 'track down' the Crown and Fleece' and find the skulls gone - we knew they were not there (or at least I and any readers of Ken Goors Haunted Leeds book knew) - we did not know where they had been moved to, however.3. The skulls were not moved to their new location ...." by a concerned citizen who simply felt that they would be destroyed when the area was demolished". They were moved by the owners of the premises, Dyson plumbing, when they moved to new premises.4. The building where they are now situated is not made of 'corrugated iron'5. Nor is it 'derelict'6. We did not contact the 'family' of the owners - but the actual owner.7. We certainly have NOT gained permission to take 'possession' of the Stone skulls - quite the reverse in fact 8. We are not in 'Talks with Leeds Civic Trust' nor has it ever been seriously proposed to reinstate the skulls to their original position as that site is inaccesible and still derelict - and will be for the forseeable future. We have had discussions with Leeds City Museum Service, but these will almost certainly come to naught as the owner of the skulls will not give up ownership.9. This final section is pure wishful thinking and condescending, patronising nonsense."The area to which the skulls will be returned will soon be regenerated by developers in the same way as much of Leeds City Centre has been over the past 15 years. The story of the Two Skulls is an example of how an internet site has allowed the people of the City to truly play a part in a redevelopment process, which they might otherwise have been in danger of feeling very alienated from. The readers of Secret Leeds have taken action, met, researched, gathered information, lobbied to retain an ancient piece of the history of Leeds which they feel to be important. They have taken ownership of a small part of the redevelopment of the city centre, and Secret Leeds was the catalyst which has allowed them to do this".Other than that more or less spot on!!!I'm really cross about this misrepresentation and would ask that you remove the offending piece from the online blog as a matter of urgency.Drapesy.

Nice one drapesy i could not have put it better myself sir! A lot have hard work has gone into the skulls thread, so the least they could have done was actually read the blooody thing! From the story that's been written it looks like they have skipped through it 20 pages at a time and just filled in the missing bits with made up tales...............its a sad reflection on the work that's been put into it.

I agree Brandy, and what 'gets my goat 'even more is that they're trying to take the credit - " Hey, look at this great site we set up folks - and look what the 'little people' have done with it, all thanks to us - arent we just fantastic??"sheesh....

Apologies for trying to put out a positive message about the site. Short deadline, not enough research done.It seemed like an attempt to send out a positive message and I took it.

I guess the article does give a "positive" message, but the story is so innaccurate I was amazed! I assumed a journo had been given the story by Munki and got it wrong (as has happened before) but when I read it, and saw Munki had written it himself, I couldn't believe it!Please follow Drapesy's request.

Well i am also a little perturbed by the article and i can see why Steve is pretty wound up.BUT,we must also take into account that unless you keep a tab on this thread every day its hard to be fully conversant with the whole thing. As we know ,Munki and Dunki have allowed the site to run itself, and have probably not been as up to speed with with the whole skulls situation. So i can empathise with what Munki had done,im sure there is no alterior motive on his part. However,im sure that he would have been as aware as to his lack of overall knowledge as to how the thread has developed ,so perhaps it would have been wise to have put it out to some of us to do a bit of an editorial.I also have to say that it does feel as if the piece leans towards the "educated" enabling the everyday folks to be able to express their views and take up "arms"to take action.Im sure its unintentional,in fact im positive, but it is the perception of myself and clearly that of others too.I think this whole site is pretty unique, its no longer that we as a whole contribute to Secret Leeds, started by Munki and Dunki, but that we are all now collectively Secret Leeds.
