Is there a security problem with the site?

I have just tried using the Secret Leeds site search function and when I tried to connect to some of the links that were brought up I got a security alert in which it stated “There is a problem with this website’s security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website". This is the link to one of the items that had the alert:- https://secretleeds.com/viewtopic.php?f ... &start=190. I still get the alert when I enter the url manually into a web address locator.

I feel sure there is no problem but I thought I would mention about the alert.

Leo I think its the 's' in https that is causing the problem. I don't think SL really needs a security certificate as it isn't collecting sensitive info like postal address , Date of Birth and credit/debit card details. The S means your browser is expecting a security certificate associated to the site and is warning you because it can't find it

Thanks tyke bhoy for that likely explanation :).

Though it is probably overkill I'd like to see this site use https as it would make it less likely that, for example, one's username and password could be stolen when using public WiFi.
I know that it costs to implement though and that the credentials used here aren't likely to be of value to anyone so it's not a criticism more my liking of tinfoil headwear.

The answers from TykeBhoy and BarFly above pretty much cover it Leo - it's a technical error but nowt to worry about. I'm not sure why it's trying to go via HTTPS but I'll have a look into it at some point. I might buy an SSL certificate and switch the site to HTTPS but they can get quite expensive so it's not happening immediately. Cheers and happy new year to you all :)

Thanks dsco for your help and a Happy New Year to you also. :)

It's already January 3rd (4th in parts of the World) so this year is already going by fast! It's said to be a sign that you are old (or are getting old) when time seems to fly by so I must be ancient  (well OK, no shock there!).
