The 2012 Tournament for the Royal Armouries Arrow will be hosted by the Bowmen of Adel together with the Royal Society of St.George at Morley Rugby GroundScatcherd LaneMorleyOn Sunday 22nd April 2012.The Medieval Archery Law of 1363 makes it obligatory for Englishmen to practise their skills with the longbow every Sunday. Not sure if that was ever repealed so best go along.

Seemingly its still illegal to kill a Scotsman if he is holding a bow and arrow in York.I dont think I will try it out to test it lol

PS. Very off topic so sorry but the mention of York reminded me that the Queen is in York tomorrow (Maundy Thurday) to issue Maundy Money. According to Look North tonight the Queen has to ask permission to enter York. I wonder what would happen if it was refused!

Hi againDid anyone ever go to this tournament on 22nd April??Living in Robin Hood country we hear alot of bowsand arrows etc. They also have tournaments downhere in Sherwood Forest.

Talking of Morley and Scotsmen - I believe the Scots army camped near Morley in the 14th Century

Longbows gave us (the English) victory at Agincourt and are the source of the now infamous two fingered salute.... Everyday is a school day!
