Picture from Leodis (note the description)http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL     Time plays tricks on our memories for sure - I was a frequent record buyer in those days and knew most of the shops, but I must confess that I'd forgotten any shop in that location and don't remember HMV in that spot. However, what a wonderful vintage road sign in the picture - even then it must have been one of the best preserved in the City.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Found this on Flickr. It says Bradford 1968 but looks like Duncan Street to me. Any thoughts?http://www.flickr.com/photos/hmvgetcloser/4996263772/

Hi Uncle Mick, that is definitely Duncan Street Leeds. Just looked on Google Street and you get nearly the same aspect.

The same for sale sign as well
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

If you look at the white building on the right, was Burtons in the old days I think, now Nandos?, well look at the diamond shape halfway up the left hand pillar, then look at the circles above windows on same shop. I see what you mean about the road layout but closer inspection will show the drainpipe on the building next to Nandos is identical, the first floor windows are square, the second floor arched, the third and fourth first floor windows counting from Nandos have pointed tops, inbetween the sets of windows, although the stonework is dirty, you can make out the sand coloured stone columns with red brick at each side. It's got be Duncan Street.
