Bit late onto this one, just searching round S.L.There are flocks and flocks of Red Kite since the Harewood intro, one overhead at Harehills last week.Beautiful sight, though cannot believe RSPB propoganda that they eat "carrion, worms and small mammals".That is a big bird, and there are a lot of them, farming regs dictate that nothing bigger than a rabbit is 'left out'.Adel Dam Nature reserve is worth a look, the earlier in the morning the better - park to rhs of Parkway or whatever they call it this year. If you are lucky there's a family of Roe Deer in that area. Heron, Kingfisher, Red-backed Shrike.

Heron, Kingfisher, Red-backed Shrike.Plus plenty of Treecreepers, Woodpeckers and Nuthatches in the wood., and I saw a pair of dippers along the beck near Stairfoot Lane 2 summers ago. There was an information board at the Red kite viewing area on the dam wall at Eccup reservoir but its no longer there. I think there were 40 pairs breeding around Harewood in 2009.

Remarkably large flock of lapwings flies around Lowfields Road near B&Q in Beeston - believe they roosted on the roof at one time

There have been Lapwing in that area for years I never get sick of seeing them.Incidentally I followed up the first post of a sighting of a Great Bustard with the a few enquiries one with the BTO and I was told categorically that there are no Bustards in the country and that the sighting was probably a feral Turkey.

Greta Bustards have been reintroduced in England,there was footage of a female with two chicks on Springwatch last year
