Hi BobI also saw "Jazz On A Summer's Day" at the News theatre in the Queens Hotel. A great film; I think it was screened with a film with Jackie McLean in it - "The Connection" - about the 'dodgier' side of the modern scene! As I said, I will be gigging with Dave Lewis this week and will pass on your comments. I'm sure he will forgive you the late turn up. He's much 'mellower' these days!I'm attaching a photograph of Al's Band taken about 1963'ish at a gig at Leeds University. I think it's you on drums, Homer banjo and Dick Wright on Bass.Cheers. Tony

Gee whizz,Tony, what a memory, and I thought that I had a good one. I do believe that your right about the Jackie Mclean film. Something triggered as soon as I read his name. Glad to hear that Dave is still gigging. Spoke to Dick Wright a few years ago on the phone and he commented that Dave had become a grumpy old man. Maybe he was just going through a [email protected].    Bob

Hi Tony (and Bob again). Long time no see and certainly no remember -but then I sometimes think I'm Ralph Lauren or one of the Brooks Bros when I get dressed in the morning. But I DO remember that gig at Leeds Uni. If you could manage it, I'd be grateful for a photograph also - [email protected] have a very hazy memory of helping Dave Lewis, to move house. I sat with most of his furniture including a rattly old overstrung piano on the back of a borrowed flatbed whilst Ned Websdale pumped out barrelhouse on it - in the pouring rain. I think we were moving to Chapletown. I also seem to remember that whenever Dave Lewis moved house he managed to move always to a Lewis Street, or Louis Road or similar. I suspect he decided to move whenever the next 'Lewis' address came up.

OK Folks. Got the emails. I will forward 2-3 photos later today. I will include Dave Cockerham in there since he's sure to know the suspects.I shall be meeting up with John Beecroft shortly and will show him the posts. I'm certain he has a lot of anecdotes to relate . . .Like the time the Steinway Grand fell off the stage at the Riley Smith Hall!!Cheers. Tony

Hi bariman. Your "Like the time the Steinway Grand fell off the stage at the Riley Smith Hall!!" sounds most interesting!

Thanks for the pix, Tony. I remembered you immediately when I saw the band photo. It was the name which threw me. After all, you'll admit, it's been 50 years. I think Al fired me soon after you joined and I started playing with the White Eagles shortly after.
