birdcage - this is the new heaven and hell, but its cheap. didn't it used to have another name, irish name i think?o'riellys it was called - was before the big name chain got their way. was quite the fight spot as i recall (many years ago b.t.w) can anybody remember ostlers and the bond - tiny drink holes but were good - however not as good as the bank pub, early 90's pre rave meet spot. everybody seemed to know everybody and vrey little trouble (probably due to the chemicals and powders getting ingested)o'happy days

Does anyone remember the Old Bank? T'was next to The Laughing Cavalier and sort of down from the Richmond. Possibly the scaryest irish club i ever went in (at least one scrap per night practically guarenteed). Allegedly only stayed open as long as it did because it was a police listening post?I think it shut down about 85. A long long time since i've been up that way, but seem to remember it being a burnt out derelict building for a long time after that

Used to go in the Cellar Bars at Corn Ex & Top Cats which is now a Japanese restaurant round the corner from where Ikes-Berlins was.Saturday nights were best where you could fight for fun & bouncers were terrified especially when the Lodge Road boys from Armley were in townGood Old Days
