Strictly speaking not SL but I was wondering if one of the Ancestry members on SL could do a quick look up for me ? Could somebody please help me to find out some info on my great uncle ? His name was Albert Goldsbrough born 1919 in Sedgefield Co Durham. He was in the Seaforth Highlanders that were captured at St Valery during the Dunkirk retreat in 1940. A relative seems to think that Albert spent the rest of the war as a prisoner somewhere in Poland and mentioned that Ancestry have a section for prisoners of war from 1939-45. Any info on Albert would be greatly appreciated as the sketchy details mentioned are all that we know about him. Thanks for reading.Regards.

Thanks for the replies, I just looked using the free search facility and it brings up A. Goldsbrough with the location as Poland. It seems promising. Here is the link :http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss ... h=ac3Would be grateful if one of you could check it for me. Regards.

It might be useful to know you can get free access to Ancestry.com in Leeds libraries if you can find an unused computer: http://www.leeds.gov.uk/leisure/Pages/O ... urces.aspx

Hi thereI do ancestry on Ancestry and also pay for another site of Genes Reunited. I am on Rootschat and have up to now done over 1600 free searches for people looking for their ancestry. So if you want to have a search for free, please dont inundate me, but I will give it a try for you. I am loosing one of my sites this year as I cannot afford to pay for 2 out of my pension. regardss Armleylass
