Too true jdbythesea - My Dad was seriously injured on The Somme, but struggled to survive and managed another forty three years of useful life, considerably inconvenienced and with disabilities and resulting illness which he rarely even mentioned while working past normal retirement age. The soldiers mentioned on the Leeds Pals website are in alphabetical order of surname, and therefore my Dad is the last. Even though we are used to seeing early film and documentaries its still shocking to see what the Lads actually went through. A visit to the Somme cemeteries is a humbling experience, and its grand to know that the Authorities in Europe do such a marvellous job of keeping the many memorials in such respectful and pristine order.

Leeds Pals Cap Badge.

Thanks for posting the link jd.Whilst not wanting to get on my soapbox, I'm somewhat disheartened by the lack of people wearing poppies this year. Lets hope they've been saving them for today and this weekend.

For whatever reason the link does not directly work on my browser and when I copy and paste it into a webpage finder I just get a page not found message.
