Just found this site, hope I get it right.Does anyone have information on Henry Berrys.I have been told that Aunt Clara Harrison got killed at this factory sometime in 1930. Born in 1875 that would make her 55 when the accident happened.1901 census she lived in Garnet Place Hunslet so I presume she lived there all her life.I'm also looking for information about Kirby Banks located on Great Wilson Street. I think they manufactured screws.Waiting in anticipationdelightful1

I did wonder - there's been a half-empty trading park where HBs used to be for years now; wondered if they'd moved to smaller premises round the back or something.

Kirby Banks was my greatgrandfather. He was a partner in the firm of Banks and Stead (formed sometime before 1871). William Stead retired in 1891 and Kirby carried on as sole proprietor untill 1896 when he formed Kirby Banks & Sons Limited, this became Kirby Banks Screw Company Limited in 1897. For all this time these firms made screws and nuts and bolts and were based at the Albert Screw works at Fleece Lane-Meadow Lane, Leeds. This was near Great Wilson Street and in 1897 I know he had some leasehold property there. Kirby died in 1905 but the company carried on under the same name and were still there in 1908. The firm moved to Beeston some time before 1927 (see Leodis for photos). But I do not know when or why it finaly closed.I would be very interested to know if you have any information on these firms.
