Yorkshire Houdini?

I am trying to verify a family story about an uncle, Walter Hooley b1892 Leeds, who apparently was an escapologist. He challenged Houdini (one of many I suppose), and on one occasion was arrested for causing a disturbance and bringing the centre of Leeds to a standstill. I've read about Houdini jumping off Leeds Bridge in 1911 and failing to escape from a casket of beer.I'd love to find out if our story is even slightly true and would be very grateful if anyone can help me .
