I had a fascinating look around the New Roscoe this morning with many thanks to mine hosts Noel & Joyce for there great help with tales of the old Roscoe they used to run untill it's sad demise in 1983, before it was flattened to make way for the Sheepscar interchange! A much loved pub still missed to this day. However the New Roscoe is a cracking live music venue with a good selection of beers, Green King & I.P.A are often top notch, It's well worth a visit. Thanks to Noel for showing me the fantastic model of the old place & letting me share some of there treasured memories. Cheers!

This magnificent exact replica 1/6th scale model of the old Roscoe demolished in 1983 was built by a regular cusomer of the New Roscoe Andy Gibney in the pub cellar taking many months of hard labour. He only emerged from time to time to fill up his beer glass to keep him inspired. A talented model maker he has several other pieces displayed in all 3 rooms. This model used to grace the concert room for many years untill it was removed to this place for safe keeping when the pub under went a refit, which unfortunatey left no room for it to be displayed... Realising i hadn't seen it for many years i talked the landlord Noel into divulging his secret hide away place and let me capture it. I have to thank mine hosts Noel & Joyce for a fascinating Saturday morning behind the scenes look at the pub telling me some tales about the old Roscoe & letting me look at some of there own personal pictures! After my interest i think i've inspired Noel into getting this model cleaned up ready to take it's rightfull place back in the tap room where it belongs hopefully soon, I also have to thank Noel for putting me in touch with a landlady friend of another well known city center pub who's cellar contains several tunnels under the city that were used during the war years for air raid shelters, Even i didn't know about these! Watch this space for the Leeds historical Society scoop later on!

Time gentleman please!! The model even comes complete with the faces of it's old regulars! From beer mats, bags of peanuts, Tetley hand pumps to the french horn hanging over the bar no doubt used on one of the many impromptu jam sessions in there! Why don't people play harmonica, the spoons, bazooka, piano & the guitar anymore in pubs?....

The attention to detail of the model has to be seen to be believed, Right from the missing slates on the roof to this side passage leading into Gills court now wiped off the Leeds map in 1983 when the area was cleared for the new Sheepscar interchange

The old sign perfect in every detail, Don't know if it's just me but the guy stood up reminds of that infamous bugger Peter Sutclffe :-/

WHO ARE YOU...Once snarled Roger Daltrey... Sadly this mural seems to have recently been painted out. It was created by the Australian artist Janet de Witt. The starring line up are from left to right John & Margo, Des & Paddy, Noel, Barrie Pepper with Joyce & Joan. I believe Mr Pepper thought he looked a little on the large size originally. Maybe the tale of some shadowy figure seen acting suspicious in the dead of night clutching a paint pot & brush are true as Mr Pepper certainly looks a lot slimmer in this shot!
