Ive heard from a reliable source that The Garden Gate will cease trading this sunday and will be converted into flats, if this is true its an absolute disgrace, after all the pub executions we have witnessed in Leeds in recent times this surely has to be the worst.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is to close. Only been in 3 or 4 times (all from memory around 8.00ish on a Wednesday) and not exactly doing a roaring trade. I also think on two occasions the beer was on the ropey side (not quite off) suggesting that the volumes weren't greatfor several days before. However it owners Leeds Brewery seem to be working on the basis that it isn't closing as this http://www.gardengateleeds.co.uk/christmas2013.pdf is accessible from their website

In 34 years I've spent zero pounds there so cannot be critical of what an owner wants to do..

I know most of the chaps from Leeds Brewery, and I've not heard anything about this.I shall ask a friend of mine who runs PIN on Dock St, and let you all know. I doubt it is going to be converted, given that I understand it's listed.

I am hoping someone has got the wrong end of the stick. There is a application to make "flats" upstairs but the pub to remain unchanged (dated 16th Sept 2013)http://tinyurl.com/p6zxpvr

Oh no the Garden Gate would never close now, not while the area it stands is set to become much sought after and highly affluent. The crock of gold beaming brightly at Stourton Follybus Park and ride not far away, which as promised by Leeds City Clowncillors will generate thousands of jobs and millions of pounds into the local economy. The Garden Gate as a result will once again be a thriving pub
