No, Tesco are planning a store for Beeston and are trying to get the permission granted for Asda to build on the former bus garage / Co-op warehouse at Middleton canceled so they can build an "Extra" store there, in addition to the numerous other stores they have going through various stages of planning in Leeds. There is a thread on the subject elsewhere...

There is a report on page 13 of today's YEP about a suspected arson attack that is said to have gutted some of the inside of the Middleton Arms building. This is a link to the YEP online report:- http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... _1_4031685

Who would have thought it?Yet another unwanted old building that mysteriously catches fire when the owner is desperate to get it demolished! There seems to be a lot of this about doesn't there? Leeds must be something of a hotspot (pardon the pun).<sarcasm off>

That's true raveydavey. It's interesting that in the report it states "The fire comes just days after planners said the historic building could be demolished".

It had been smashed open at the back of the building and raided for weeks before this happened. It will have been stripped out now at somebody’s leisure and then they probably thought they may get rid of any evidence they left.Apparently its just about gutted inside and the roof has gone ………… well done lads!!!
