Hi snowman there was a pub called The Red Lion at the bottom of Pearson Street very near the Hunslet Engine Company.See my last post further down.

i am sure the road was called church st? if you came past henry berrys on your right over the railway bridge past laporte acids
on your right then past the transport cafe (the old green man pub) to where waterloo road runs off to the left and you go straight down the coop was on your right i worked at savile`s on your right,the pub was next door,opposite the doctors prefab,it was all prefabs on the left.

Just had a look on Leodis in the 1930s there were 55 public houses in Hunslet now 16.

I think that Jack is correct and the pub was the Red House Inn. Saville’s was at 19 Church Street and the Red House Inn was at the junction with Iron Street (9 Church Street). Iron Street was only a very short distance from Low Road.

Thanks for that Ian the Red House was not on the list i found on pubs in Hunslet.

I made a big mistake in my reply about the Red Lion, the pud i was talking about was the British Queen old age takes over sometimes where i got the Red Lion from i dont know.I am with Ian it must have been the Red House we were looking for.

thats the one the red house, the red lion was on the left hand on low rd before the crooked billet (i think)
