there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Drapesy, yes that was the old chip shop on Methley Drive. me and my mates used to go there after playing football on Scott Hall school field and get chips and a fishcake to finish off our night. It was a good chippie.A better one though was Carey's, on Sholebroke Mount, opposite the old Scott Hall pub. Joe and Agnes ran it and it was the best chippy around in the 60s and 70s. Joe did a special sausage cake that, according to the write-up in the Yorkshire Evening Post, had aphrodisiac properties - but I was too young to know.To confirm an earlier point, Drakes at Potternewton roundabout did use to be Fields, and they have kept up the tradition of Lionel and his wife by always having a queue of customers due to the good quality of their fish and chips.

Afterwards, we'd call at a chippy somewhere in the streets between Kirkstall and Burley Roads, and have fish and chips and onions in vinegar. No idea what is was called, but they were delicious - or is hunger the best cook?

When I lived in the centre of Leeds in the 1960s, our local chippy was on Park Lane, at the bottom of Leighton Street, on a small parade of shops roughly on the site of the Nuffield Hospital. I believe these were demolished in the late sixties when the inner ring road was being built.
