Yeah if you look on the first page of this thread you can see the plaque. It's on a concrete pad stone on the floor. It looks like they had to clear the vegetation from it every year!

oh yeah didn't notice that picture there! judging by the pic I posted with the white circle and this one, it looks like they are stood / squatting almost opposite the mouth of Roundhay Road, which now would translate to where the trees are. If it is mounted near the kerb, then that would account for the distace to the road behind them. It looks like (and this is a wild stab int he dark) the other side of the road behind them is roughly just before where the new Sheepscar Street North layout is. I hope i have been a bit blind and missed it, but I doubt it. Could be in the flower bed further up though, but it seems a bit high up for where the pub was located.

Well looking at your latest Roscoe pic i think were on a wild goose chase as i think the new building at the bottom of Roundhay road has gone up where it stood.

I dunno, I think it might just have missed it, this was build in 1990, and i think you mentioned the plaque still there in 1993. But wait... whats this i see on google earth - could it be the plaque I have circled (the higher circle) or is it too big?Whichever way, I reakion it HAS to be within one of the two circles on the pic.

Ha. I just spied the same thing. The greenish thing looks good. The other is far to big, It's still there. looks like a base for a lamp stand never used. I've looked all over there & never seen anything but these images are about 4-5yr old on google! I'll have a good look tommorow & see whats what!

he he, yeah agree its too big, but, I have just compared the old 1908 map with the goolge image, and the trianglular section near your cross is roughly the line of the old buildings, therefore the Roscoe must have stood just that little bit further up from your cross.See attached, the old police station has gone hence the wide opening of Roundhay Road,

I could potentially get "official" permission to lop the bushes up from the company that is housed in the building there - or is it more fun just to lop away?Like the new pic on your profile thing!! reminds me of the film the fugitive when he's in the tunnel about to jump.

Best to survey the situation at that point in time & act accordingly! The L.H.E.S motto: Fortis fortuna adiuvat (fortune favours the brave)The latin phrase means that Fortuna, the Goddess of luck, is more likely to help those that take risks, take action, and develop their skills proactively!..... Or sometimes the boy scouts thing aint bad either! Be prepared!! :-) I've been meaning to change the Lennon avatar for a while! I've used my silhouette pic from the Queensbury tunnel explore we did earlier this year for this one!
