Pubs closing NOW- in our time.

one bit of good news, the builders are in at what will be the new weatherspoons pub in garforth (to be called the briggate) and is due to open on march 7,and the new for x-gates is up before the planners on feb 10 i wont hold my breath on that one.

Thanks for the good wishes snowman, my pal Ken Elmy (ex, Firth Mount) who lives on the main street through Garforth pointed out the place he had heard was to be the Weatherspoons and i think it was a Church hall up on the right hand side. as for the one in Crossgates where would that be ?. when i come to Leeds for a few days i stay with my sister there and i would say that they certainly could do with a decent new pub.

the proposed w/spoons for x-gates is on the left as you go down austhorpe rd at the side of the arndale centre,it used to be a coop then a doctors.if you come up again let me know as i live in x-gates we could meet up.

I know it well Tony, when my Mother was alive she had a lovely flat at the back of the Methodist Church on the same road, one day i went to that doctors surgery for her hearing aid batterys. even though my old Mam was nearly 90 she was corpos mentis enough to obey the instructions on the packet "Do Not Eat. and also Do Not Drive Heavy Machinery"

The Old Surgery was there to cure your headache and i guess W / Spoons will be there to give you it back

went up in flames shortly after 11am today.

The question is, does anyone know when the Hofbrauhaus (Bier Keller) which used to be in the Merrion Centre, closed?

Tonights YEP,

Demolished pub(The Merry Monk) is taken off the protected asset list.

This is after it was demolished in July. !
