It sat between the bowling green and the football pitch It could have gone around 1970 but I know that area from mid 70's onwards and have absolutely no recollection of it either being there or being mentioned. It certainly did not service the football club. Have you got the 1984 map? Ads, I have it on good authority the Bowling Green Hotel was demolished around 1964. This is from someone who used to attend functions there in the early 60's. As I said, although I grew up in Rothwell, this was not an area that I went around so all I could go on was what the maps said. The point, I think, is that we know it was there, we know whats there now, the actual demise of it is not so important.

Yeah, you got me wracking my brains as I have images of the areas from childhood and it wasn't there but one's memries fade. I imagine the foundations might have remained hence the maps not being updated.

Its definitely looking good - traditional 'pub' look and the 'Prince of Wales' name has thankfully been retained!P.S. -Chris - just had a pint of Leeds Brewery's 'Christ Alemighty' in the Fox and Newt - pure nectar!!!!!

It looks like the Skinners Arms at the bottom of Scott Hall Road is going to reopen, I passed by today and the metal shutters were off and their were lights on inside. If it does open again let's hope they manage to keep the 'undesireables' out this time.

looks like I may have been right about the Arms, if the story on the YEP is to be believed - http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 5698.jpOne of those times when you hope that you are wrong really.

Looks like sadly I might have been right about the Arms impeding closure and redevelopment. One of those times when you wish you weren't right about something really.http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 4845698.jp

Just noticed there was a planning application to build 13 houses on the site of The Falconers Rest Middleton at the back end of 2008 by the pub owners. They withdrew it but I would bet it is only a matter of time before they try with something else. If everything is to be believed no pubs for Middleton. All that new development going on around and just the Omnibus to keep them happy.
