Here's a brand new bar that has opened recently: http://www.brewdog.com/bars/leeds(Although at £4.50+ a pint for 'craft beer' it remains to be seen how long it lasts....) I saw this in Scarborough yesterday. There's no wonder that pubs are closing at the rate they do if this is the best offer they can come up with !http://www.flickr.com/photos/biglightso ... /lightbox/

I've been in the one in Camden. All their beers taste the same. I'm not sure if the "craft" is in being able to achieve that feat or whether it was parting me from four quid for [nearly] a pint of papp.

There is a chain of French pubs/eateries that i would love to see over here ,and especially in Leeds as its "home" is one of our twin cities,Lille. They have branches all over northrn France and Canada!!They have a range of beers, usually brewed on the premises, that are all top notch. From light coloured to heavier dark ones. The chain is calle "Les Trois Brasseurs" and when i go to france next year i will be bringing some bottled takeaways home again.Really,if this was in Leeds it would catch fire.Link to Canadian site which is the only one in Englishhttp://www.les3brasseurs.ca/eng/our_story.php

Looking at the price of meals in the centre of Leeds there well out of my price range but then im only a snotty nosed ex Hunslet ragamuffin.lol     Fear not tilly - you can get a wonderful carvery at the Picture House, corner Merrion Street/Woodhouse Lane. The meats are always of top quality and the vegetables great too, There are three sizes of meals from under £4 to just over £5. The place is usually very busy - a sure sign that its OK - and its so handy for all the City Centre shops etc. Large screen TV in one end (sound turned down) so you can watch the live news broadcasts if you wish to - I always do. Give it a try eh ?? Thanks for that BLAKEY I must try it i dont go into town much now it does not have the same pull has it had in the past.Is it just me i tend to go in and take photographs. I used to like the market but its not been the same since the fire. I had a walk around the new Trinity Centre it does nothing for me i know im moaning but its just the way i feel.I think i will crawl back into my box now.
No matter were i end my days im an Hunslet lad with Hunslet ways.

I spent many a happy hour in the Fforde Grene when I used to hang out with John Flather, who's parents managed it back in the late 60s.Anyone remember the disco downstairs in the Peel hotel next to the El Toro coffee bar, big Tony the bouncer who also used to work at the Spinning Disc.Fun day's

I tried a pint of IPA and found it bland and far to gassy. I much prefer traditional hand crafted beers from our own breweries in Leeds and its environs.

Off the top of my head, and around here, the Irv Inn in Pudsey opened a few months ago, and the owners of the Commercial have taken over the Royal as well as the Fleece in Horsforth. The Clothiers in Yeadon is about to reopen as a Wetherspoon (this may or may not be an improvement, it all depends on the management). In town there's the aforementioned BrewDog and Friends of Ham, Not many for sure, but people are still trying.
