Leeds never really 'had' the Slip. The majority of Leeds does not even know the Slip exists. What goes on at the Slip has no effect on Leeds. Will Morley be the poorer for losing the Slip? Debatable. Is the Slip really the problem? If the Slip is closed, what will happen to the regular customers? Or put another way - where next for the current clientele of the Slip?It was a half-decent pub in it's incarnation as the Borough, when even in those days it was 'the Slip' to the locals.

Just gone past the bridge inn at kirkstall and there is scaffolding erected around the building!! Hopefully not a bad sign as I herd one of the owners of kirkstall brewery bought the place a while back. Hope it is open for the summer, (if we get one this year,) so I can sit in the beer garden overlooking the river with a nice pint of 3 swords... Lovely!

It has been bought by Kirkstall Brewery and there was a note on the door advising it would re-open "Summer '12", which has obviously slipped a bit. Hopefully the presence of scaffold equals imminent work? The beer garden is lovely as well, I wonder if the goats, chicken's and horses will still be there? There was info on the website last time I looked, its blocked for me at work but you can check here: http://www.kirkstallbrewerycompany.com/

Morley has been, administratively, part of Leeds since, what, 1974? Pushing on forty years? I'd say, yeah, you're being a wee bit parochial there...Do we need a ruling? Is Morley legitimately part of Leeds, forty years on, for the purposes of this site? If not, then apologies for quite a few (most) of my posts the last few years (oops)...

No, we don't need a ruling - anything with an LS postcode is, as far as I'm aware, legitimate for discussion here (and threads often expand just beyond the Leeds boundaries).I remember some school friends of mine who lived in Horsforth were very upset when they acquired the LS18 postcode in the 1970s and were adamant that they would never consider themselves as part of Leeds
