The Tut and Shive is up and running again in Yeadon. It looks great and congrats to all involved - I wish them well . My only slight gripe is I wish they'd dropped the silly name and gone back to the original 'Robin Hood' name (or better still, perhaps, the original original name of 'Robin Hood and Little John' !!!)
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I agree drapesy over "silly" names. For another example, how can anyone fancy 'owt to eat and drink in one of the chain known as "Slug and Lettuce" ?? - not me Sir !!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I noticed the other week that the Traveller's Rest in Crossgates is open again. Also, there is a To Let sign outside The Buffers in Scholes. It's all looking a bit tatty down there, it looks like a window has been put through and it's been boarded up (not all the windows, just one on the conservatory type bit at the front). It's a shame - it could be a fantastic pub if someone made a proper go of it, but no one ever has.

The travellers has been a Chinese Restaurant for some years hasn't it?Seem to remember some problems being reported with the place before that.

The Travellers became half pub / half Chinese buffet restaurant before it's closure and the pub part was renamed "The Red Lion" (not to be confused with the nearby Old Red Lion). It does seem to have re-opened but I'm not sure what it is called this week.

An estate agent's board announces that it's for sale as a "development opportunity." There is a report on page 9 of the YEP today (July 29) on the demolition of the Regent/Maguires pub. In the report it also states "Fire crews were called to the building on Tuesday to deal with what is believed to have been an arson". In the report it also states "Once the site is cleared it will be sold for development". Edit added at about 23:00. I have just found a link to the YEP report. It's still the Red Lion but appears to have lost the Chinese restaurant. Talking of the Old Red Lion on York Road - that looks to be getting scruffier and scruffier. I wouldn't be surprised if I passed that and saw shutters up soon.
