Regarding the bus crash that is mentioned a few posts above. There is an article in a 'Times Past' section on page 15 of today's YEP that has a photo and report, dated May 14 1968, about a bus crash at the junction of Regent Street and New York Road near Quarry Hill Flats. The bus route number is though said to be a 63, thus not the 67 mentioned in the earlier posts. It would seem therefore it may not be the incident that information is being requested but I thought I would mention it as it may still be of interest.

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Not directly about the thread topic but in a related way there does seem to be far fewer off-licence shops than there were not so many years back. No doubt cheap alcohol in supermarkets is increasingly killing off the off-licence trade as well as pubs.

First the bad news; The New Inn at Guiseley has been sandblasted. Why oh why do folk insist on bleaching the character our of lovely aged Yorkshire stone. It looks like a wedding cake now.But the good news is - it is to re-open as a pub! In about 3 weeks time, and will be owned by a bloke who has another 30 or so pubs around Bradford. I'll try find out who it is...

The YEP website has a report dated today (July 22 2011) about a last ditch attempt to save The Queen on Burley Road from being converted into a Tesco. This is the link to the report http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... _1_3603367
