Looks like the Skinners Arms is a pub no more.Passed it the other day and think its been converted to offices. There are signs up on the exterior of the building, but for the life of me,can't remember who it is!.

When on Scott Hall Road yesterday and passing by the Skinners Arms I noticed there is a Skinners Arms pub sign in what looks to be a small backyard of the pub. I wonder if that sign is going to scrap or what? There were still some signs attached to the pub. I passed by today but forgot to look to see if the removed sign at least is still there.

Went in the Fleece at Otley yesterday, wow ! what a transformation by the Wharfedale Brewery Co.On the other side of the coin however, went to the Square & Compass at North Rigton, what a dull, over rated place, virtually empty apart from the odd snob or two !

Leodian,The discarded sign you mention was still there when I passed this afternoon, resting against a wall at the side of the building.

Thanks 45man.I have never been in the Skinners Arms so the pub holds no nostalgic memories for me but for anyone that it does it would be a shame if the sign is to be destroyed and thrown away as scrap. Perhaps it may be worth asking about for anyone that is interested in acquiring the sign.

I understand that The Buffers in Scholes has also hit the buffers (sorry, couldn't resist it!). Despite living round the corner from it for many, many years and remembering the crane putting the railway carriage in place when I was very young, it's not somewhere I ever went. At risk of sounding like a snob, it always attracted a rough crowd who weren't from the local area. Not my cup of tea at all.

That is a shame if it's true - hope it doesn't go to rack and ruin, but I have to say, I've lived in the village for a few years and it never seems busy to me - but then I'm equally puzzled how the Barleycorn stays open too! I think one of the problems is the lack of marketing - we get a new takeaway menu or offers from the village shop every week through the door, but I've never had one piece of marketing from the Buffers, thus it's never on the radar.Still, if it does close, guess it's an opportunity to buy a railway station!
