Its shown as such on old maps - so either this is the old Bay Horse or its a newer building built on the old site - and it doesn't look very new.Unfortunately I was unable to get as close a look as I would have liked as there is a locked gate across the yard.- this picture was taken with me holding the camera thru the bars!(I wonder if blocking yards like this is legal - shouldn't it be a public right of way??)The lights are electric incidentally. Just been out for lunch and whilst deciding where to eat I noticed that the Bay Horse yard gates were open, couldn't resist a quick photo opportunity from the 'other side' so to speak! Nice work - thats the Old Bay Horse!! According to 'Haunted Leeds'there was a grisly murder there in Victorian times!!!

Was it called the Sheepscar Arms (i seem to think it was) it was roughly where Scott Hall Volvo is now... Here you go - Sheepscar Hotel to be exact. This is from 1958. Believe it or not I've had a pint in here - it closed down and was demolished c1976

LS1 - I assume when you say "here's another one" you mean another pic not another pub! Both the above pics are of the New Inn- the first when it was 'Melbourne' - the second must be later as its become 'Tetleys'Talking of the Globe theres a recent pic of it on page 1 of this vast thread!

Just been browsing thru' this forum and was "bitten" by the bug. I note no-one has mentioned the lost pubs of Wortley. The Alexander, The George, The Cattlemarket, The Barley Corn, The Smyths, The Cemetry, to name but a few. Any photos of these would bring back some great memories. The Alex and George were on a road leading down from Cattle Market to Domestic Street I think. The Barleycorn was on the bottom of Whitehall Road somewhere near Readmans, with another pub next door, whose name I've forgotten. The Smyths was on Geldard Rd. and the Cemetry was on Tong Road, higher up than the Beech.

Yeah, sorry, meant the same pub, but picture from a different angle!!Whilst I'm writing this I thought of the old Skinners Arms on Sheepscar Street North. Demolished in 1931 and the new one build a little further forward. This is a picture of the old one
