I suspect despite its location in industrial units it may be a conversion to "appartments". I suppose it isn't too far from "Churwell Village"

Hi,This may have already been mentioned but the Haddon Hall in Burley has closed and is currently being turned into a supermarket! I understand that in years gone by the Haddon was a music pub and has hosted some famous bands, i worked there for a few months in 2003 / 04 and I am sure someone said the Jam played there but I'm not sure if my mind is playing tricks on me!I'd love to hear from you if you have memories of famous bands playing there as I was planning to write an article about the pub. I think this would be a really intersting aspect of the pub's history to mention as many people maybe unaware of this aspect of the pub's history or have forgotten about it.

Sorry - I meant to reply to kathy1983 but accidentally started a new thread. If not sufficient response as a stand alone could the administrators incorporate the Haddon Hall one into this one?

Sorry if this seems like a bit of a dumb question but where was the Belle Isle pub? I’d always thought that the Belle Isle and the Omnibus were one and the same place.... possibly?

I believe from dim ( very dim! ) memory that the Belle Isle was on the east side of Belle Isle Circus, or of the next road junction north, but am open to correction Liits.

Often those that would also have appeared at the Fforde Grene and perhaps the Staging Post. Best position to watch was that great curved bench that used to be about half-way across the music room (unless you got stuck in the middle). Mighty fine art deco interior as well (suppose that will have gone too). Electric Tets not up to much but it was principally a music pub in the late 70s'.Among good local bands we used to see there were Jobe St. Day (Moortown I think), Eustachia Vye, Fabulous Poodles, Big Picture Show, Mickeys Monkeys...(sorry age related memory failure now)...A good blast from the bands, belly full of ale and then down for a nice relaxing curry. It really is dreadful that so much of our heritage has been allowed to be destroyed over these past few years, after being part of Leeds for so long.    kathy1983User Location: LeedsJoined on: 04-Nov-2010 16:04:44Posted: 2 posts # Posted on: 04-Nov-2010 16:58:08.    Delete | Edit | Quote Sounds like you have some fantastic memories of the place, when I worked there it was very much a shadow of it's former self. It's a real shame it didn't continue the music tradition although it seems to be the case with many music venues that after a certain time they close for whatever reason.

Well, the Oakwood was on Oakwood Lane, but what suburb would you put it in? Gipton? Hollin Park (is that even a suburb)?
