Hmmm, grandparents seem not to be able to remember, though they say is was down near the Victoria somewhere. Phill, there is a pic on Leodis of an aerial view of the area type aerial and Sheepscar, or aerial and north street I think and it gets you to the view, has the golden cross on too, but from behind!Jancee, was the body snatcher story James someone who lived in resurection (aptly named) cottage that was roughly where the slip road connecting Clay Pit Lane and North Street is now.

Can you paste the link to the arial shot LS? It'd be good to see the layout as that might help in my quest for THAT plaque

Here it is. I'm that sad that I bought the pic off leodis and have it hung up in my bedroom!!http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... ier=7919if you look where the library (now the archives) is you can see where the police station was right on the corner. this is strange as I though that the library was righ on the orner and there was a toll booth there before it was built. This was 1930 so may have been before sheepscar branch library was built. Anyway. If you look over Chapeltown road from the Library site, you can see the triangle end of the buildings, and Sheepscar street going off north. I reakon that the Roscoe must have been somewhere there, on the middle left of the photo right at the edge, just off. Is it worth looking in the business directories for an address then finding it from here. It surely must be listed.

The only other places I can think of it being round there are on the area where the Sikh Centre is now, between Barrack Road, and Roundhay Road the place on the map I posted woudl be in the centre top edge of the photo. I dont think it was here its too far from the Roscoe streets. - Unless some bugger has nicked the plaque after seeing it on here, just like those damn railway warning signs have gone from the Selby Road/ Lights public house bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On second thoughts, the street below you marking, is that Benson Street? I looked on my full zie picture here, and it is. I cant make out the Roscoe between Benson Street and where appleyards was cos the image is too blurred. But I think that there are pics on Leodis of this parade, was this the same side as the Golden Cross Cafe, if so there are deffo pics on leodis

It's nearer the Sheepscar library. I've had the place pointed out several times when passing in the car, someone who had seen this post actually mailed me this image (sorry for forgeting your name) Apparently he's had a look with Andy Gibney & it can't be found!
