White Swan.70 BoroughgateNot a pub I'm at all familiar with. It has obviously been expanded at some stage, and is now quite large. Closed (temporarily ?) mid 2013 (Directories: first found; Baines 1822, as 'The Swan' - Pigot 1829 as 'The White Swan')

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

The White Swan Attractive sign above the entrance to the former stables. I assume the date 1901 refers to this part only (and perhaps to the newer part of the pub ) - but not the original part of the pub that appears to be much older.

The Manor House.Walkergate.(prev. 7 Cross Green - Robinson 1901)Rather like the Fleece ,on the opposite side of Otley, the 'Manor', as its invariably called, is very much a locals pub. An old building, once again showing evidence of having been two separate dwellings. The style of building is extremely similar to the Ring O'Bells and the Masons Arms.

The Black Bull.Market PlaceClaims to be the oldest pub in Otley - and thats not a claim to be made lightly!! Believed to date back to the 16th centurysheesh - this is an old building (and dare I say it - yet again you can see it was once separate dwellings - at least 3 - with the section to the left which is out of shot)). Its so old that you have to step down into it because the ground level of the Market Place has risen in the centuries since the pub was built!A brilliant pub,it has always had good beer - and always one of the mainstays of our Saturday night jaunts from Leeds. (Directories: first found; Baines 1822)

New Inn 34 Market Place.A sad loss - I've had a few pints in here, but it closed c 1988 and is now a branch of Superdrug. Some of the pub features remain- particularly the stained glass upper windows and the mounting for the sign; sadly the lower windows which were decorated with the name of a former brewery (Hey's of Bradford IIRC) did not survive. The New Inn's name lives on in the adjacent New Inn Court. (Directories: first found; Baines 1822)

Leeds House Market SquareThis small building has been a cafe for many years - and recently reverted to the 'Leeds House' name.    I believe it ceased to be a pub in the 1950s
