I have a feeling Barchester wines did a wine fromthe wood too, Mebbe that was Armadillo! Not quite amontillado!'TIO Pepe' of course, was a top end sherry,By Gonzales Byass,Sherry importers, Good stuff ! Armadillo rings a bell. Advocaat is made from eggs and brandy - my dad tried to make some, I think your supposed to disolve the eggs shell and all in the brandy - I may have that wrong of course because he never succeeded probably because he didn't have enough brandy.

I think the idea was that the brandy would disolve the shells - anyway it never worked - as you say he probably drank all the brandy.

Talking of big glass jars, Does anybody rememberVANTAS fruit drinks? They were dispensed into a tumbler, from fruitconcentrate in separate bottles and topped up from thisgreat glass urn affair containing soda water. They were 1d. and 2d. a glass. You got more in the 2d glass ofcourse, and more of the fruit concentrate too! Used to come outof the sweet shop on the corner of Gloucester Rd. near CastletonSchool, burping for all we were worth! This was in 1935/6. There are industrial units on that site now. I think the schoolis still in existence

It was a powder that you put into a glass of water to make a 'fruit' drink. They were right about the foam bit though there was loads of it.
